WIPW - Standing Up

My Work In Progress this Wednesday contains some upright stitches.

Pile 'em On
Standing up? Yes, the Woven Picots are sprouting in the circle; they make me think of bamboo shoots!
I completed the Drawn Faggot Filling Stitches that I hadn't finished last week (no picture). Then I worked a flame of Honeycomb Filling Stitches.

TASTy Beads Galore
To balance the TAST stitches #113 Beaded Feathered Chain and #125 Beaded Herringbone previously worked on the right,  I added a set of the same ones on the left hand side. Then I encircled them all with #127 Beaded Up and Down Alternating Buttonhole.

Conveyor Belt Needle Cases
I took a break from Swedish wool embroidery and worked with felt and #5 perle thread instead.

I am truely grateful for all the various TAST stitches Sharon at Pintangle has taught me, they are such fun to use!

    Queenie, your work is fabulous, I'm mesmerized, you know how I like color! The flame honeycomb stitch, the sprouting woven picots, the feather stitch in blue, I'm wowed.

      Thank you, Janie. Working with colour is fun, but difficult. I think some lucky people are born with a colour sense, others like me, need to THINK before adding colour.

      Felt is the perfect raw edge appliqué, and shows off embroiery stitches well.

    The woven picots are really standing out to be noticed. the honeycomb filling looks very neat. Though I have worked these beaded TAST stitches separately during the challenge, They look wonderful worked together. fantastic idea. I love the way you are working the felt on wool embroidery.

      They were two new things, three dimensional picots and felt + perle. I will try some other new ways for both the needle case and the circle.

      For every week the 'moss' is gowing in the circle, but it is far from really overgrown. I have to add MORE of everything. At least the Picots add a bit of height.

    The Woven Picots are adding a lot to your Pile Em On and your Honeycomb Filling Stitches are very nicely done. I recently joined a group that are going to work on a pulled thread chatelaine project over the next 4 months. Will be lots to learn and enjoyable too.

      Pile 'em On is the first project for me to use pulled work. I really like the rhythm of it and I am sure you will enjoy it a lot. For me the problem has often been at the edges of the flame where I have tried to use different counts of threads and then got lost. With a straight grid or geometric design that should be easy-peasy.

    I love the way your "Pile 'em On " project is coming together! What a fun and unique piece - I love the addition of the pulled work flames. (I smiled when I saw the woven picots, as I made a few of those myself this weekend and hope to share them soon.) Your TASTy Beads Galore is still one of my all-time favorites. It looks great and your imagination truly shines through each week. The work on your needle case is fantastic. It makes me long to work on a black background. Your colors all show up beautifully.

      It is fun to work on the Pile 'em On and try to add new structures, sizes, shapes and heights. Yesterday I added Drizzle stitch,another stitch that sprouts forwards. The TASTy Beads Galore has only one additional stitch, then all beaded TAST stitches have been used. It is time to think about how to finish this project, a frame maybe?
