WIPW - A warm heart

Work In Progress Wednesday. It is time for the weekly WIPW report. Don't know what I am talking about? Go to Pintangle and learn, join in and see what others have made.

Swedish Wool Embroidery Collar
The progress I have made is a heart, a warm woolen heart stitched amongst the warm hearted people of the UK.

Swedish Cushion
Here I have made a long narrow leaf of green TAST #48 Arrowhead stitches, and six #42 Open Based Picots in orange DMC perle 8. Do they look like teeth in a hungry animal's mouth?
Next week I hope to have the other side made up with similar stitches, and time permitting, some other woven stitches.
Yesterday we got a new TAST stitch (#124 Closed Herringbone Stitch); this means that there are 23 different TAST stitches still left to add to this cushion...

How have you all got on with your WIP. I hope you have made great progress.

      Thanks, the Chain stitches look a bit like hearts so they are great for the heart design!

      It was fun to add the Picots; they will add a bit of structure to the cushion.

    Love the heart and infill of stitches. It is always a delight to see the next stitch/es added to the cushion. I'm inspired now, to use the Arrowhead for long leaves. From habit I'd use Fly stitch but Arrowhead makes for a finer leaf. Your picots are perfect.

      The Arrowhead does make a finer line than the Fly Stitch and can be used for so many different designs.

    The collar is going to be beautiful–I'm glad you think Brits are warm hearted, we have a reputation for being cold/reserved. I don't think the bullions look like teeth at all, perhaps little butterfly chrysalises though?

      Brits might have a stiff upper lip and bear problems well. However, my friends are the kindest and most generous people ever, there are only two words to describe them: warm hearted.

      I, too, like this stitch. It is so simple but can be very effective in illustrating palm or fern leaves.

    Love your pretty warm heart Queenie.........Arrowhead is not a stitch that I normally go for but after seeing yours, I think that I should definitely teach this stitch in my 'workshop' !

      Arrowhead is so simple both to execute and in its looks, it ought to be used much more. Please include it in your workshop - perfect for teaching beginners and children as well.
