30th of July is coming up soon. I just wanted to remind you that it is International Embroidery Day, founded by the Swedish 'Broderiakademin, BRAK'. Read all about it here.
I am going to work with this material:
You might guess what it will turn into.
What about you, are you also going to work on an embroidery project on July 30th? I hope so.
I have just finished my embroidery from the workshop and have to make it up now, into a table topper I think. I shall herringbone the edge on 30th July :-)
We who do embroidery on a daily or regular basis might not need this 'push' but I think it is good to have a day allocated to something as nice, peaceful and peace promoting as needlework. I hope you have a good day.
Hi Queenie, I try and stitch most days.......but will certainly celebrate our 'Great Art' on July 30th...thank you for letting me know ! hugs Chris Richards xxx
Good to know that you will take part. I'll be thinking of you and all my online friends around the world sitting with needle and thread in hand on July 30th.
Our Guild here in Brisbane are going to celebrate the day and all the groups that meet on different days are going to celebrate this day together. I don't think there will be much embroidery done but lots of eating, drinking and sharing of friendship will take place.
This day was established only three years ago so it is still too new to have made a great impact, but I hope more people will stitch in public on that day so the enthusiasm for this activity will spread. Established needleworkers like you and your friends in the Guild might need to take a break from stitching and have a good social get together instead! Anyway, let's enjoy the day.
looks interesting but nit guessed what you will be doing. I will do some of my hardanger table runner on 30th it is time I reserected it, was started before I started quilting so has been very neglected
I will be making another stumpwork portrait on July 30th. It is a while since I made one so it will be fun. I hope you, too, have a good day. See you SOON!
I am not sure what you will be making, I have nothing planned at the moment for this day as I have forgotten about it so I will have to get my thinking cap on if I am to make it in time!

Thank you for sharing this! I had no idea July 30th was World Embroidery Day. I love the manifesto.
ReplyDeleteIt was established in 2011 so it is still not so well known. I hope it will be. My project for the day will be a stumpwork portrait.

ReplyDeletePerfect timing for your perfect embroidery stitches.
DeleteThanks for sharing, I didn't know about it either. I will try to do some although I have a mark making day planned with friends.

ReplyDeleteHaven't you got another knitted cushion to embroider? Or knitted cakes to decorate? I'll be making a stumpwork portrait.
DeleteI'll be stitching, as I do every day. Maybe I'll start a new project in honor of the day!
ReplyDeleteYet another project? Can you keep track of them all? Then maybe a project started on that day will stand out in memory? Whatever, have fun!
