TAST #114-115 Long Tailed Chain, Plain, Beaded and Whipped

TAST #114 and 115 are named Long Tailed Chain and the name says it all; it is a chain stitch with a long tail! They come here in three versions -  plain, beaded and whipped.  Go to Pintangle for the stitch tutorial.

On Aida I worked these, Plain:

The stitches I added to my sampler, Plain version:

Last week I made a Whipped version for my Swedish Cushion:
This stitch is easy to work and guarantees stunning results and endless possibilities.

    Great stitches Queenie and I will definitely be trying the Long Tailed Chain. Of all the chain stitches I've done and yet I've never heard of this variation. Neat.

      This is an easy stitch and perfect if you want to make flowers and leaves. You could teach it to your scouts if you ever do a stitching event.

    once again Queenie you have done the tast stitches beautifully and love the way your whipped running stitch flows so beautifully. Yesterday decided I would catch up on my tast but when I went to the site Sharon has not updated it since stitch 108 so sent her an email and will check on a few days time to see if the instructions are there.

      Thank you. This particular stitch is very rewarding; you do very little to achieve a lot!
      As for Sharon's instructions, the site is now updated and you can find stitches 1-117 on the list. At the very bottom of that page there is this text:

      IF I forget to post that current weeks stitch browse the Take a stitch Tuesday category (the most recent stitch is at the top just scroll down for others)

      and you can click your way to any unlisted stitches.

    Those are cool! Or maybe Hot! I keep getting mixed up on what is the latest slang. What I mean is I really like them.

      You can do so many things with this stitch. Fill in the hollow in the chain, add things to the tail, change the angle, length or spacing, whip it, lace it, tie it, string it up... It sounds like a poor stitch in Queenie's Chamber of Torture!

      Thank you. They can be decorated with extra detached chain stitches, beads inside the chains or woven. This is a most versatile stitch!
