WIPW - Double TAST stitches!

Kafferepet

I was counting the stems on the border of this quilt. There are 48 which makes the border stems complete.
However, I found that I have used the Palestrina stitch #24 twice. I don't want to have double stitches and removed one stem and re-stitched it with Buttonhole Picot v2 (with Chain Stitch) #88.

When looking at the flowers I thought the blue star shaped ones looked so bare and bland. I stitched some Stem stitches #14 around them and think they look better for it. There are four clusters of flowers and I gave all of them the Stem treatment.
I also added a running stitch in each of the leaves of the roses. (no picture of such a small progress).

This means that the border is now complete. The top needs a light wash, press and then I have to think up a quilt design, mark, sandwich and baste the quilt before the actual quilting can be started.

Swedish Cushion

The Swedish cushion has been adorned with some Portuguese Stem stitches #73 and Pistil stitches #34.

      I think it was an improvement, too. They are now in better proportion to the other flowers on the border.

    I'd never describe your work as 'bare' or 'bland' it's gloriously decorative! I think both the before and after stems look lovely, although the second does look more tendril like.

      I have yet to work the Buttonhole Picots as edge stitches, which they really are, but I am glad I found a use for them on this quilt anyway.

    O dear, you really frogged your stitches! Well, these thing keeps bothering if you are aware of it. Love the pistil stitches as a seeding stitch, it gives a nice filling.

      Frogging stitches is a daily 'hobby' of mine, ha, ha! There are so many TAST stitching so why have two of the same? I was pleased, too, with the Pistil stitches as a filling stitch.

    All those stitches look wonderful. I am getting to really love the Portugese Stem Stitch, it changes when you change the thickness of thread.

      It has 'grown' on me, too. Easy to do and always looking good, it gives a great outline, and as you say it changes beautifully with the weight of the thread.

    Don't you like seeing the end of a project? I think that is what drives me to work hard on the WIP; eventually they will be completed!
