TAST is an abbreviation for Take A Stitch Tuesday, a great challenge at Pintangle.
Stitch # 89 is called Twisted Satin Stitch and is easy to do, quick and has a nice look.
The light green has one twist, the light blue two twists.
I took up Annet's idea and changed to a different thread in the lower black and white row…
Very nice!
ReplyDeleteWith two colors, it almost looks like a different stitch.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should rename it to Magic Twisted Chain; there is a Chain stitch called Magic Chain where two threads are used.
DeleteAnnet gives us so many ideas for the tast, your stitch has worked well, must have a go with mine.
ReplyDeleteAnnet's old stitch sampler is such a wonderful source of inspiration and 'copy'.
DeleteWhat a difference two colours makes, it shows off the stitch much better!
ReplyDeleteI would never have thought of that idea myself, so I am very grateful to Annet.
DeleteGreat idea to make a double twist! The using of 2 different colours wasn't my idea, I just read it in Embroidery Stitches by Mary Webb.
ReplyDeleteOK, it wasn't your idea, but you shared it with the rest of us, that is what counts. THANK YOU for always being such an inspiration.
DeleteI was thinking the same as Julie.
ReplyDeleteJulie is one of my most observant friends, she can spot things I never notice! You are both right, the two colours of thread add a new dimension to this stitch.
DeleteLovely samples. the double twists look like isolated Breton stitch. I love the black and white ones for the combination.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. And a lot of stitches would be difficult to identify at a glance. e.g. Up and Down Buttonhole and Knotted Buttonhole.
