Sunday Stitch School - Lesson 366: Spider's Web Stitch

As promised, here is one of the basic stitches I missed. Spider's Web should have been added LONG ago. It also goes under the name Woven Wheel.

I followed the instructions in Mary Thomas's Dictionary of Embroidery Stitches. At Sarah's Hand Embroidery Tutorials, there are photos and a video to show you how to execute the stitch.

Mark the centre and an odd number of spokes.






Weave your way around the centre by going over and under each spoke,

round and round and round...



Anchor under the woven entre.



By using a different thread/colour/weight, you get a more striking look.
