Alternating Cross Stitch is the name of a crossed canvas stitch where every other Cross Stitch is taller than the ones next to it.
In Mary Thomas's Dictionary of Embroidery Stitches, as well as in RSN's Stitch Bank, this stitch is also known as Double Stitch.

Your long and short stitch is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good stitch with dimension. The variations would be useful for different looks. I think it would look great to have the smaller cross stitches in one color and the taller cross stitches in a second color.
ReplyDeleteThat is an attractive stitch!
ReplyDeleteAlternating Cross Stitch is very beautiful, excellent border or filler.
ReplyDeleteIt makes a really nice, subtle texture if you do it in a single colour/thread.
