Today's stitch was found at Artistic Fingers.
It is a variation of the traditional Chevron Stitch, with a twist, literarily.
The key is how you place the working thread.
I made a row of the traditional Chevron Stitch (in aqua) and one in Pagoda Chevron Stitch (in purple) so you can compare them.
Can you see the twisted horisontal bars of the purple stitches?
Here is how to make the Pagoda Chevron Stitch.
Keep the thread UP when you stitch the lower line.
Keep the working thread DOWN when you stitch the upper line.
Continue changing UP and DOWN in the same way.

Chevron stitch with a stitch. The name pagoda sounds funny to me. Yes I have also seen this stitch in Anita's blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the Pagoda stitch. The 'running' thread is 'laced' under, then over, the little top and bottom stitch. Unlike the Chevron stitch in which the running thread appears to start and stop under the little top and bottom stitch.

I think it's not easy to see the detail in the purple thread.
A very useful stitch maybe to outline.
It's an interesting stitch, isn't it. Perhaps one where it only shows itself at its best in a particular thread or at a particular scale? In some threads, I think the difference between Pagoda and Chevron might be masked by the way the thread behaves..
