Friday Homework for Lesson 133: Sinhalese Stitch

Could anyone call this a difficult stitch? I doubt it.
The key is to stretch the two (green) threads the Open Chain is worked around. In some stitch books the instructions are to leave the two threads loose. This  would make it possible to work the stitch in a curve, but it is really a challenge to get the tension right. So for a straight ladder-like line anyway, fix those threads.

  1. It might be possible to keep the threads under tension if they were wound onto a bobbin, or something like that..

  2. Great work and I think I've said it before about this stitch or one like it, it could very easily be made to look like a centipede or a big caterpillar.
Speaking of which, we were out on the trail and we came across a huge, black with red spots, spiky caterpillar, it was amazing. And wouldn't you know it my camera would not focus, maybe not enough light or I was so excited I messed up the setting.
I was amazed to say the least.

  4. I would think that trying a curve, it would be difficult to know just how loose those stitches should be. It might take a lot of practice.
