Work Satin Threaded Chain Stitch like this:
Make a line of Chain Stitch.
Anchor the last stitch.
Turn the work and
come out below the last Chain Stitch.
Thread the link, not catching any of the fabric.
Go in a bit to the left, so you have two 'legs'.
Continue 'pinning legs to the caterpillar', long or short, as you please.
Homework:
Infest the
Aida Sampler, Sunday Stitch Reference Chart and Teal Wool Tailoring Scribble Cloth
with caterpillars!
Looks good! You can do a lot with a chain stitch and an addition stitch.
ReplyDeleteWhat an unusual stitch. It does make a very cute caterpillar.
ReplyDeleteCentipedes in no time at all! Also fringed edgings, and no end of other oddities!
ReplyDeleteWell done! And lots of possibilities. quoting Rachel, 'no end of other oddities!'
