WIPW - Stitching Paper

Work In Progress Wednesday today has two things on the menu:

Stitched Bookmark
I was given a present and had to make a return gift, something small and easy.
In my stash I had a paper horse with punched holes for stitching. Small and easy! But see the power of the variegated thread!


Crazy for Crazy
I have worked on some areas, using recent Sunday Stitch School stitches and some store-bought ribbon rosettes.

      If you select two contrasting colour they enhance each other, if you take two that are similar they blend in with each other. Have fun!

    Beautiful embroidery and embellishments Queenie.
    You put the twisted fly stitch to good use with the colonial knot.
    And the rosettes are at home with the Berwick stitch.

      I have since experimented with putting various stitches into the Twisted Fly Stitch's cup. Some other stitches are better, I think.

    Lovely work on the hexagon. It becomes prettier each week. The rosettes are lovely and the Cretan is perfect against the twisted ribbon.
    I like the novel bookmark and the variegated thread does make it special.

      I have had those three rosettes for AGES and never found a good place to put them. Then, here was the perfect place. I am so glad I had hung onto them.

      The certainly do! Especially on a very simple design like this where the simplest of stitches look the best.

    The bookmark looks very pretty. A nice idea of using variegated thread.
    The block is becoming more and more beautiful. As you said- Contrasting colours do enhance each other and similar colours blend and create a wonderful piece. Good work!

      Variegated thread add a lot of colour, movement and charm to a simple stitch and design.
      Yes, playing with contrast or blending can be the key to stitch success!

    That is a lovely block. The bookmark has got my attention it is something that I could use with the children's classes. Could you give me some more details about it, like size, weight of card etc?
