WIPW - Crazy for Crazy

There is still a few minutes left of Wednesday here in Tokyo and I want to post my Work In Progress Wednesday Report before midnight.

With the Mola and reports from the Tokyo International Great Quilt Festival 2018, out of the way it is time to launch a new project.

Crazy for Crazy

I treated myself to Sharon Boggon's excellent book
and will be using it as a course book while learning to improve my crazy quilting.

My progress so far is to have
set a shape, hexagon octagon!!!!, as you can see, cut out templates, foundation fabric and

selected scraps in light blue fabric, ribbon and lace for the first block.

I have pieced the block and
am about to start embellishing it.

  1. I was just looking at that book in the fabric store yesterday!
    Great book.
You're off to another fun stitch adventure too.

    1. I bought the book already last year, and have read in it and leafed through it almost every day, but I promised myself not to get started until other WIPs were completed.
Now I am so happy to do something I have been wanting to do for a long time.
BTW, the book is GREAT - one of the best I have ever seen,

    1. Every block will be monochrome with stitching in a contrasting colour. I started with light blue and the next will be another colour.

  4. Maybe we should have picked that as our challenge. I don't have that book but I do have a few older ones that might work.

    1. If you feel tempted we can do it for NEXT year! The style in the book is 'anything over the top' and I hope to take a good bite into my stash of decorations.

  6. I bought Sharon's book last year also and enjoyed reading through it cover to cover and back again. I haven't used it yet for a project and it could be a while before I do.
I would recommend it to both Beginners and Pros for its easy to follow as well as great ideas to stimulate ourselves.

  7. That exactly how I read the book, cover to cover. Now I will be able to go from chapter to chapter as I build on the blocks. There is SO much information and good guidance.
