I heard on NHK World news that the temperature outside in Tokyo was the same as body temperature! (98.6 in Fahrenheit). I think it is above 90 F here, but maybe a few degrees cooler than Tokyo. Your sashing stitching looks great.
The snail trail is lovely! I would have guessed that you were doing free machine quilting. I can't picture how the walking foot does the sideways movement, but then my machine is pretty old. Can't wait to see the whole quilt.
The walking foot does struggle - the quilt is heavy, but the walking foot can walk both forward and backward. You will have to wait for the completed quilt, far too hot to work at the moment.
snail stitch works so well on the sashings. Wow that is a stitch on your machine I am looking a new machines tomorrow at FOQ will be checking to see if they have a stitch like that. Please can we have some of your hot weather, been miserable here wet and cool
Belive me, you don't want any of our weather! Yes, my Elna has that stitch, and I am sure you will find similar stitches on most modern machines today. Try out some machines at the show and enjoy all the quilts.
Great idea. It's the perfect stitch for the job. We're having hot weather too, it does sap energy. It's too hot to cook anything, ice cream sundaes for dinner tonight!
I can't imagine how nasty it must feel in Japan at the moment. I;m surprised you managed any sewing at all. The sashing looks great and compliments the triangles. Like everyone watching the growth, I'm waiting to see the completed quilt.
Your quilting is looking great. It is always stressful trying to get the pattern even and that must be more so in the heat. I tend to put the quilting away in the hot months even when I have air-conditioning. (I can feel that heat coming my way.)
Quilts belong to winter, both using them and working on them! I want to have this quilt finished soon, though and will struggle on in the heat and humidity.
Your quilt is looking beautiful! The snail pattern was a great choice, and sets the triangles off perfectly! You are doing so well in such heat, well done! Barbara x

ReplyDeleteThank you. It is simply too hot, and way too humid!

ReplyDeleteYes, it is like running a temperature, without the runny nose, sore throat etc. Too hot to do anything.
DeleteWay to go! Getting anything done in this heat is a WIN!
ReplyDeleteIt was exhausting today!
DeleteWhat a lovely idea - the stripes and the beautiful quilting. I will have to remember this - I like it!
ReplyDeleteI'm using a walking foot for the sewing machine and one of the machine's fancy stitches.

Your stitch is beautiful, I have to try this stitch with my sewing machine. I don't know if it's work.
ReplyDeleteIf you have it, do give it a try. It is quite simple but stylish.
DeleteLooking lovely. I've never tried a fancy stitch with the walking foot.
ReplyDeleteSome of the more complex stitches might be a challenge for the walking foot, but the stitch I piece teams up with the walking foot.

Ice cream for dinner? What would my Mother say if she saw me (in adulthood) serve up such a supper?

Sorry for answering late. Almost a week has passed and I need to put in some more stitching for the WIPW report tomorrow!

Thank you. Yes I like the soft quilting patterns against the sharp triangles.
