WIPW - 4 x 9 1/2

Most of the effort of my Work In Progress this Wednesday has been on

Trinity Green

I have joined triangles and strips of green/purple/gold fabric into units of four.


There are 9 1/2 such units

The next step is to join them all into one huge flimsy.


Greeting Card

I had to make a greeting card, and wanting to test if the Bayeux stitch could be used with Coton a Broder, I made this design.


The anchoring stitches sink into the background much better when stitched in wool, though. Well, you always learn something!

    Lovely green triangles and impressive all together. Yes, I find wool a very forgiving background for all kinds of stitching.

      I am beginning to fear the machine quilting! This is going to be a rather large quilt!
      Wool embroidery is so pleasant and the look is always soft and 'forgiving'.

    I agree the Bayeux stitch creates a more subtle effect in wool, but all that means is that now you know of two different effects it can create....!

      Viewing additional Trinity green rows together makes me more amazed at your dedicatiion and tenacity to reach the finish line. You are such an inspiration to others.
      I've not heard of Bayeux stitch - the stitch and card are lovely.

      I am getting impatient to finish the flimsy, so I try to speed up. However, this has been a week of too many distractions....

    impressive progress on trinity green. happy stitching!
    very beautiful work on greeting card. pleasing colours and nice embroidery. I like the way you are using the stitches on greeting cards.

      I really want to finish the quilt top and try to sit at the sewing machine whenever I have time.
      Small greeting cards are perfect to practice new (TAST or SSS) stitches.

    I like what you're doing with 'Trinity Green' good idea.
    And your greeting card, is that an Easter egg? is perfect for spring.

      I am not sure the assembly is going to be as perfect as your quilt flimsies always are.
      No, there are two hearts entwined on the card, so no Easter eggs, but the flowers add a touch of spring.

    Your snake quilt is becoming very exciting as it nears it's completion.

      I got side-tracked by the 18th Sunday Stitch School's stitch (Renaissance) and the snakes are in hibernation! It is ALWAYS nice topstitch in the sun; the best 'OTT-light' there is!

      It is still manageable but as more and more smaller parts are joined together it is getting harder!

    Trinity Green is really shaping up ..... I expect it will be quite heavy to move about now?
    Yet another fantastic greetings card! It's great seeing what you will design next!

      Easter was rather busy with nursing duties, but the weather has been lovely and warm.
      Yes, I am beginning to see a flimsy coming up!
