WIPW - 9,234

Work In Progress Wednesday can this week report on real progress.

Trinity Green

It has been a productive week; I made 18 new paper strips of 486 triangles.

This means that I have completed the first step in making this green bed size quilt - I added the very last triangle!

The final total came to 9.234 triangles.


Next on the menu is stitching strips of thin green 'sashing' between the rows of triangles and then ripping out the paper until I have a flimsy.

The upcoming week will be very 'green',

but around me in Tokyo it is very 'pink'.

    good to see you have got so far enjoy the sashing wonder if you are using scraps for that too. No blossom out here yet, just daffodils so far

      The fabric for the sashing was once bought for another quilt that I never got to make, so is that scrap? Not really, but it certainly comes from my stash and I have not bought any new fabric.
      Enjoy the 'yellow' season.

    In Nerima it is still cold and though I saw a few cherries beginning to open on my way to the Juban, and a star magnolia also blooming, here in my neighbourhood it is neither pink or green. However, I wouldn't want to keep count of that many triangles just to get something green.

      No someyoshi cherries are open here, but this tree is early and in a sheltered place.
      Shinagawa has a fair share of magnolia and some of them are blossoming. We are in for a flowering season.

    Well done. I always feel like a major milestone has been passed once I can start to assemble the actual strips or blocks, it's the point at which you can actually see the quilt take shape. Thanks for the tip about clear thread, an excellent suggestion!

      Yes, I actually was so happy once the last triangle was put in, and the few remaining cuts put away, that I felt like celebrating. It has taken me almost a year to stitch those paper strips.
      Glad you found that clear thread might be a solution to your problem. Good luck and please show me more of your beautiful needle lace.

    Congratulations! Wow. That is a lot of triangles. Finishing that first step is worthy of a happy dance or two. I look forward to watching your flimsy come together. This is going to be such an amazing quilt.

      Good idea! I will have a private dance party! Maybe with all the new strips of fabric I have been cutting it could be a real mess!
