WIPW - Stripes

Here we go again, Wednesday is the day to hand in your progress report, WIPW.

Trinity Green
I handful of 13 paper strips loaded with 351 triangles means that I have a total of 4.401 triangles.

 My target is to make 10 paper strips a week, but thanks to the powerful typhoon that kept us indoors and without visitors, I managed three extra strips. It brings me a bit closer to my goal of 7000-8000 triangles.

Fabric in Focus
Today I will show you some stripes I have included in Trinity Green.
The angle the fabric has been cut gives variation - some stripes are horizontal, some vertical and others are on the bias.
Most of these pieces are from Sweden, from Åsa's stash, but there are also some typical (American) patchwork fabrics, and as you can see, one is a metallic print.



HC Quilt
I have quilted all the stones (how does one quilt a stone??!!) in the foundation of the castle and moved on to the windows.
Next week I will need green, blue and pink quilting thread! Guess where I will be working.

    The one plus I see with paper piecing is that you can play with the grain of the fabric so get all kinds of results that hand piecing can't. Isn't in nice to have some indoor time all to yourself?

      You are so observant! Yes, one of the great advantages with PP is that you can use any odd direction of grain without problem and make the most of a scrap of fabric. It's like cutting cookies from a rolled out dough!
      It IS nice to have time to oneself!

    Well done by passing the half-way mark of your quilt. I like the addition of stripes.
    The castle is moving along very well too. I enjoy seeing each extra bit. Will you be working on sky and trees next?
    I hope the typhoon didn't do much damage.

      The typhoon caused devastating damage in the north (a swollen river and mud flow flooded a home for the elderly, 2 m of mud and tree trunks right into your bedroom) 14 people dead as the result of the typhoon, but Tokyo was spared damage, although it rained harder than hard.
      Yes, the tree, the sky and the greenery in the foreground are meeting the quilting needle this week.

      I didn't know that! Black is such a difficult colour but green has so many variations. I have learned a lot!

    Gosh, both quilts are coming along tremendously! All those wonderful triangles .... loving the stripes! The HC quilt is so intriguing! Looking forward to seeing the whole scene. Keep up the good work!
    How terrible, all that damage caused by the typhoon! So glad you kept safe!

      Soon I will be able to show the whole scene of the HC quilt, but I have another fortnight to play around.
      Yes, the typhoon was more than deadly - and now number 12 is working its way north. THIS one might hit Tokyo...
