Pile 'em On
They are framed on two sides by Four Sided Stitch in white that my Mum once started on this cloth. I think she intended to make a small table runner. When I first found this project amongst her belongings I thought of completing the table runner, but the tension of my stitches did not match that of hers so I turned this piece of cloth into my own free form embroidery project, Pile 'em On.
Chicken Scratch
On the 'chicken farm' the crosses are beginning to twinkle like stars...
Off to busy myself with other things than embroidery, I'm afraid.
Progress is progress. Glad you've been able to do a little here and there.
ReplyDeleteIt is suddenly very cold here in Tokyo and my fingers are stiff - this will make my progress even slower!!! I heard you got a record snowfall today; it must be freezing!

ReplyDeleteI don't know why Christmas has such a way of creeping up upon us! It's time to light the first Advent candle on Sunday. Will I have the Chicken Scratch cushion ready by the time the fourth candle is lit?
DeleteSuch great looking stitches on your canvas pile em on and good that you are able to make a little progress even if it isn't very much. Sometimes even if I can only just get a few minutes of stitching in I feel better about my day.
ReplyDeleteI, too, feel I have had a good day even if I've managed only a few stitches. Unfortunately it takes time to take out and put away the project (to keep it safe from child, cat and senile OAP) and I feel frustrated that embroidery time is wasted.

DeleteQueenie, you surely know how to make ordinary open weave fabric sing. The variety and placement of stitches make the cloth amazingly beautiful. I must look up canvas fern stitch. Next year I hope to do some 'teach myself' samplers of stitches of various kinds.

ReplyDeleteWhat do you think will happen to all the UFOs we will leave behind? Will someone take over and complete the projects or turn them into their own thing, or simply dump them? Quite often you can find half finished cross stitch kits in charity shops. I've 'salvaged' quite a lot of embroidery floss that way.

ReplyDeleteThe reason the Pile 'em On is so colourful is that I have raided my ORTS box and taken out any odd string of any colour to work with.

it might be small, but still these projects are progressing. the fern stitch is very nice. good to see the chicken scratch.
