Swedish Cushion
The recently learned Fern stitch, TAST #134, quickly found its way onto the cushion. Pink Perle #8.

Swedish Wool Embroidery Collar
Last week I showed a photo of wool fleece. I took it while attending a workshop in felting on the island of Koster near the Swedish West Coast in July.
There I made two 'bluebells' to use as ornaments for the cords of the collar.
I was very pleased with them until I saw that they were too large.
New ornaments had to be made. I had some wool in my stash in Tokyo, and remembered the technique. The result was two smaller ornaments, however they are not bluebells.
Instead their plainness make them perfect for TAST embroidery, and as you can see the Fern Stitch came out to play again.
A few stitches here and there and the Swedish Wool Embroidery Collar will be complete. It will be on display next Wednesday!

Where do you think the two bluebells are destined for? The bin? The cupboard? Or the ...? Also on display next Wednesday. Until then have a happy stitchy time!

    Your Kafferepet is still one of my very favorite projects. I love the chain stitch quilting. Your Swedish cushion looks fabulous with the addition of the fern stitch. And then we have your "bluebells" - I look forward to seeing how you use those beauties! I do love the way you dressed up the cords on your collar. Lovely work!

      Queenie, you put me to shame and your stitching is wonderful! I love using wool and stitch together it gives such a tactile result!! The Bluebells are so cute!

    some more lovely stitchery today Queenie, the Kafferepet is coming along beautifully and the fern stitch looks very much at home on the cushion, the more I see of this cushion the more I love love love it. The cording will look good with your felting and the bluebells well they better be used and not put into a drawer as they are beautifully felted

    Love the new stitches on your cushion. The fern stitch is a great match to the triple chain. It's also great to see what you did with the wool, fern stitch looks very well on them too. And I'm sure you will use the bluebells on another project, maybe some christmas decoration?

      Wherever there is a mirror effect on the cushion I wanted to use two stitches that are as similar as possible and the Triple Chain and Fern go share the same basic shape.

      I have been inspired by Salley Mavor and Lucy Landry (Playful Stitching) and many others, when it comes to embroidery on felted wool.

      I like the blue bells, too, and tried to make smaller versions. However, I need more practise and time to fiddle with smaller size. Next time!

    Quilting using the chain stitch is very effective and the fern stitch on your Swedish Pillow looks great as does all your other stitching! The ornaments for your Embroidery Collar look really sweet. Looking fwd to seeing where you will put the bluebells. Such beautiful work you do Queenie :)

      Jenny, Thank you for your kind words.
      Chain stitch quilting takes a lot of time but I like the look of the full quilting line.
      Embroidery on felt is like stitching 'butter', I love the ease at which the needle goes through the soft wool.
