WIPW - Ready to quilt

This is a busy time of the year but I have made some progress.

Kafferepet

 The quilt top is ready, it has been pressed and marked for quilting, sandwiched and basted. It measures 1m square.

When I joined TAST in 2012 it was to learn embroidery stitches that I could use in quilting. That is why I will now make use of some of those stitches on this quilt, instead of only using the traditional running stitch. Watch this space, as they say!

Swedish cushion

On the Swedish cushion I have added a mirror image of last week's. The stitches here are Chain (TAST #8) and Detached Chain (#7) with a long tail.

    Queenie, it's beautiful - it makes me thing of English High Tea and I'd love to have that right now. Looking forward to seeing your quilting :D

      The coffee tradition is firmly rooted in Sweden. I think only Finland has a higher percentage of coffee intake per capita in the world. In the 'good old days' a lot of attention was paid on the table setting and the things to eat - similar to a traditional English High Tea. These days coffee drinking is more casual but remains just as popular and is known as 'fika'. If you're interested read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fika_(coffee_break)

      I am so happy to have reached this stage, which I had thought I would be at after the summer break, and had totally forgotten that the border was not completed.

      It is nice to work on a piece which hold some kind of history or theme. It all started with the platter of biscuits, then the other blocks were added. Now for that quilting!

      how good to see the quilt as a whole Queenie, I have been trying to picture what It would look like but was not very successful, I am sure you will soon have it quilted. wonder will we be seeing it at the festival of quilts next year? hope so. The applique looks so good as a border Your Swedish cushion must soon be completed too, very nice.

      Thank you, I am pleased, but a bit scared of the quilting - that can make or break a quilt as you know.

    Your quilt is wonderful. I love the colors and all the lovely details. I'll be looking for the quilting with the Tast stitches.

      Thank you for your kind words. The first TAST stitch I chose was the latest; Straight Sided Feather Stitch. I guess it is a most unusual 'quilting' stitch! Report on Wednesday next week!

      Thanks, Susan. I like the border but need to add a wide binding once the quilting is done. Now I am having fun with the 'embroidery quilting'.
