WIPW - too hot to quilt

It is Wednesday and here is my weekly Work In Progress Wednesday report.
WIPW is a smart way to make some progress on a needlework project. Read about it at Pintangle and see what others have made here.


As it is still too hot to quilt, I have not made any progress on the Kafferepet quilt. Instead I have added more stitching to the cushion.

I have completed the leaves on the circle with Up and Down Feathered Buttonhole Stitch. (TAST # 61)

I added orange #47 Berry Stitches to the previously made clusters of French Knots in the centre of the Half Buttonhole wheels. 

Then I made a Buttonholed Herringbone Square #53 in pink with a light purple Laced Herringbone Square #54 in the middle. Some French Knots and Detatched Chain Stitches were added.
Finally the circle has sprouted swirls of # 56 Sailor Stitch.

 Sorry for the poor quality of the photos; this piece of fabric must have been a chamaeleon in a previous life! What colour ARE you actually?

      The idea is to repeat and make use of the TAST stitches. It's fun to see how each stitch can be put to best use.

      The background fabric is amazing, amazingly beautiful and amazingly difficult to photograph. The stitching could be more amazingly perfect!!!

    Oh lighting on photos is a real bind! If you don't take the photos in the same place at more or less teh same time of day and in similar weather, you're looking at post-editing the shots to get the colours even. Bah!

    Wish I had the same problem - i.e. that it's too hot to work. We put our heating back on yesterday as it dropped to 8C!

      Add +21˚C to your temperature and you've got Tokyo weather. The air is finally dry with humidity levels of comfortable 40%. Pure bliss, but still just a bit too hot to have a half finished quilt on one's lap.

      You are so right; the light and time of day is important for taking photos, but this dumb fabric is the least photogenic fabric I have ever encountered! In the flesh, it is really beautiful.

    I really like what you have done, so inventive!

    We are also hot here in South Africa (32'C) which makes working with silk thread difficult too.
