TAST #80 + #81 Raised Chain Stitch versions 1&2

What a coincidence that Sharon of Pintangle should give us two versions of the Raised Chain stitch for two consecutive weeks at a time when I was so busy. Perfect for me to post both stitches at the same time!

Here they are:
TAST #80 Raised Chain Stitch Version 1
This is worked on the last spot of my travel sampler.
The stitch looks a bit like the Purl knit stitch.





























TAST #81 Raised Chain Stitch Version 2
I am now back to working on my usual sampler.
This stitch reminds me of the Knit knit stitch.

Wouldn't it be fun to make a stumpwork figure dressed in a sweater made up of Knit and Purl stitches = version 1 and 2 of the Raised Chain Stitch?
Before that I need to learn to use the same colour for the foundation stitch and the Chain stitch. Here you can see very clearly that the foundation bar is made with grey thread!

    your stitches are so so even Queenie, beautifully stitches as usual and yes I can picture this stitch used in stumpwork.

      Looking at them with the bare eye, they look even, but a close up photo and you see how wonky they are.

    Hello Carin, I remember that you created a dress hanging on a hanger. Wasn't that already the chain stitch no. 2? Your samples are very creative. thanks for visiting my blog with the needlebook. Yes it was very, very tiny to work on. I will have to by a magnifying glass for my next "Little Thing". They are really charming.

      What a good memory you have!!!
      The long evening gown was worked in Open Base Needlewoven Picot and the cardigan on a hanger in Magic Chain. Should I make something with the two Raised Chain stitches they would look something similar.
      Don't strain your eyes too much with your miniatures! The beehive was cute, what is the next motif?

    Lovely samples. Ever since I first tried raised chain stitch [version 1] I've always loved it and I'm eager to try the other version.

      It is easy to love these stitches, they are easy and relaxing to work with and would look great mixed with lace in your books and on your cards.

    Nice samples. I like your idea of the stumpwork figure! Last week I started my first trial at stumpwork figures, maybe I'll write a post about it later this week.
