Work In Progress Wednesday - Completion

For this week's WIPW I have a completion to report. The crazy quilt is now hanging on my wall. The last step was, apart from attaching a hanging sleeve, to add Beaded Hedebo Edge stitches, well, to the edge.


It has been great fun to make this wall hanging. It measures 50 x 50 cm and that qualifies it to go to Yokohama for the Miniature Contest in November.

I have used fabric scraps from my stash, from charity bags, from friends, there are ribbons, trims and a friendship bracelet cord. Several ornaments I have picked up since summer and a handful of beads. The  middle is quite glittery with plenty of colour and ornaments. The edge is in muted colours and many TAST stitches. The Beaded Hedebo Edge is worked in #20 jeans thread - I had a reel I wanted to use up and that kind of thread was perfect for this particular stitch.

    Very pretty Queenie !! Blue , my favorite and I love it ! butterfly and the indian ornaments enhances the beauty...and I am sure many are going to appreciate this lovely piece for the contest in November.Thanks for sharing.

    a beautiful mini quilt Queeenie, love the contrast of dark and light fabrics. Glad you will be putting it into a quilt festival so that others can see and admire it.

    This is lovely. My colours - the blue gently warmed up with the pink. I love the Hedebo Edging too. I enjoyed it when we did it and looked up Hedebo style to have a go at.

      Thanks, Liz, I, too, enjoyed the Beaded Hedebo Edge when we did the TAST and thought it would be a perfect way to end the decoration on this cq quilt.

    You finished it off beautifully. The round corners look perfect. You have made a nice transition with the dark border and yet darker binding. Did you change your mind about what the top side is, as it is rotated 90 degrees clockwise?

      Thank you, Marjolein. The rounded corners add softness to the dark border. I felt I had to hang the quilt in this direction; otherwise the poor lady in the portrait would be feeling dizzy!
