270 new triangles. I now have a total of 3132 in my collection.
Fabric in Focus
Last week I talked about an old corduroy shirt that was used to make triangles.
The focus today is on another garment, a blouse my mother made me when I was in primary school. She was a skillful dressmaker and made many of my clothes. If I remember correctly I selected the fabric, and she picked out the dressmaking pattern. Then she made an off white pencil skirt to go with the blouse. I still remember how grown up I felt, and how proud I was to have my own dressmaker!
HC quilt
I have had the chance to add quite a lot of quilting. While working I have been listening to audio books.
Are you beginning to see what it is?
Hi Queenie your work is amazing, boy thats a lot of triangles, hope youn have a lovely day
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shez
Deletehow good to have the fabric from way back when you were in primary school, amazed that you still had it, do not think I have anything from those days apart from the odd photo. Triangles are coming along quickly and the quilting is looking good but no cannot guess what you are making yet. Are you entering a quilt in FOQ this year and are you coming to it. Can`t go myself as Sister arrives from us on 12th but Cheryl will be there
ReplyDeleteI have a whole box full of 'memory fabric', and if I did some digging I might find photos of some of the clothes Mum made.
DeleteSorry, no quilt for FOQ and no visit either, I'm stuck in Japan. I hope Cheryl will have a great time at NEC.
The triangles grow, the quilting expands and what were the books you read?
ReplyDeleteI listened to Teatime for the Traditionally Built (Alexander McCall Smith) and The Other side of the Dale (Gervase Phinn)
DeleteNot at all bored, I love seeing your progress. I listen to audio books too. I'm currently listening to 'The Bishop's Secret' by Fergus Hume
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that. In fact there will be some variety to the report next week as the World Embroidery Day is coming up on Saturday and I have to make another stumpwork portrait. Also, as from today I have more fabric to show!!!
DeleteIf you had been looking through the blue stash, you would have seen plenty of vintage fabric... not from clothing my mother made because I had to make my own clothing except what I got from cousins. Much of that I ended up taking apart to use for clothing for my own daughters ... and i still have left-overs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful day!
Not bored. Are you bored with doing the triangles?
ReplyDeleteI am not bored at all. the progress on green triangles is good. The story behind the printed fabric is bringing forth memories of dresses worn and given away, but still are remembered for their association with the experiences. I am seeing some scenery on the quilt, but will wait for you to show result. I am enjoying the quilt journey now. I too listen to CD's when working the embroideries. They are classes based on Indian scriptures.
ReplyDeleteyour mother's fabric has lasted well, she would be pleased that it has gone to good use
ReplyDeleteCertainly not bored! It's lovely to hear the tales behind the different fabrics. I don't have any fabrics from when I was very young but I think my mum has some still!
ReplyDeleteEnjoying seeing the scenery on the back of your quilt, and looking forward to seeing the right side for the first time.
What are you stitching tomorrow for World Embroidery Day?

I have been listening to audiobooks recently too. They are addicting!!! I can listen at the sewing machine, when I drive, when I am cooking, when I am walking the dog. Any good book you can recommend?
