To me it is a kind of zen meditation, 'a bit of love/sorrow/happiness/frustration...in every stitch'. The trip was great and there is much to learn from the material I gathered. I WILL blog about my progress but it WILL take time! As you know I just love it and the wonderful culture of the women who stitched it. Every time I pick up my needle for this work I feel the spirit of these women. There is a kind of magic to Japanese stitching.carorosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12976291590807462068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5631637390313519247.post-36535043691170244612013-12-04T08:52:44.565+09:002013-12-04T08:52:44.565+09:00Thank you for visiting my blog. Your quilt is looking good and well done for keeping up with the TAST challenge [I'm way behind]. I think I have seen kogin embroidery before but I didn't know what it was called. The castle looks so pretty and I like the contrast of the red fence in front of it.https://linsartyblobs.blogspot.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10321649853452019532noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5631637390313519247.post-30088708943350927922013-12-03T11:29:34.203+09:002013-12-03T11:29:34.203+09:00Looking forward to read about Kogin patterns!Looking forward to read about Kogin patterns!Claudiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04244261320087332772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5631637390313519247.post-35905831752397112992013-12-03T08:17:34.036+09:002013-12-03T08:17:34.036+09:00Thank you for your comment. Although I enjoy free form, I love learning a bit about the background of things, the history and the life of the people who created the Kogin patterns. Like the Gee's Bend quilters, I think those who stitched Kogin had little or no education, lived in an extremely isolated area and maybe the designs were born out of a mixture of competition and co-operation. Many of the Kogin patterns have names, but I'll write about that later.Queeniepatchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13281330411053716603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5631637390313519247.post-59753988955146004562013-12-02T20:21:59.285+09:002013-12-02T20:21:59.285+09:00As you of course are already aware of, Japan has a...As you of course are already aware of, Japan has a rich textile heritage and there are so many forms and regions with their own style.
