The heat, the humidity, the disastrous 21st typhoon, in English named Jebi, as well as a truck-load of other obstacles have had a negative impact on my progress.
I had to make a special
Birthday Card
and made one based on the instructions in Sachiko Morimoto's book:
This time I selected the lavender.
Making all those purple Bullion Knots took up a lot of time, but I am pleased with the result.
Crazy for Crazy
I just added five lines of Sunday Stitch School #46, Corded Coral Stitch.
By next week WIPW I hope to have added some beads, sequins and other 'bling'.

I can almost smell that lavender. I have a little embroidered pouch of lavender beside my pillow but in the dark, it is the scent that counts.

It took time, but wasn't so hard to do the lavender embroidery. The book is full of illustrations so even people who do not read Japanese can follow the picture instructions.
Yes, it is the scent that counts, and unfortunately these embroidered lavenders aren't fragrant at all, in spite of the title of the blog post!

You've captured the shape of the individual lavender flowers beautifully. So much to see in your block. The dorset button looks like fun to make.
Thank you Shasta, the death toll will rise as more bodies are recovered from the rubble and heaps of mud. Electricity has been off for a long time now, and it must be scary in the pitch dark when the aftershocks occur.

Love the Dorset button. I’ve never made one yet, although I have some suitable rings in the Dreaded Cupboard, so I could “have a go”. They were bought for another project, started and now buried, forgotten, in the cupboard.
Your block is looking wonderful! I love those colours!
