TAST 143 - Fancy Herringbone Stitch

TAST stands for Take A Stitch Tuesday, and how to Take A Stitch on a Tuesday is taught by Sharon B over at Pintangle.

Click here for the tutorial of Fancy Herringbone Stitch, which I will add as number 143 in my collection.

TAST 143 Fancy Herringbone Stitch is made up of three parts, a base of Herringbone Stitches (pink) is held held down with small Upright Cross Stitches (red) and then laced in a fancy way (light blue ).

It wasn't difficult, but with all laced stitches, tension is tricky, and my result looks sloppy.

I also worked a set of stitches on my TAST Reference Chart. Later I will add the label with number and name.
Here the tension is a bit better, so there is hope for further improvement in the future! I hope!

This is a very pretty stitch. I think it would be great along a seam on a crazy quilt.

How long is it since you did any Hardanger? TAST? Time to start again?

Yes, it is a fancy stitch that belongs on a cq.

You're stitches are very neat!

I hope they will be neater with more practice.

I love your stitch blog, just wondering how you print out your labels for the TAST reference chart?

Hi.
I make a list of the numbers and names on a word-processing program, then print them out on iron on fabric (this kind of fabric comes in packs of 10 A4- sheets and has a back of paper to stabilize the sheet in the printer). I cut out the number and name, iron it onto the little box with the TAST stitch sample on the Reference Chart. Finally I stitch it down with clear nylon thread.

Beautiful! The colors you worked with are beautiful. Lovely stitching!

Thank you! I had to re-do the stitch once because the colours didn't show off.
